Ruchlaw House is a Scottish baronial mansion house built by Archibald Sydserff in the early seventeenth century. Leading from the main gates to the house is a magnificent avenue consisting of 21 yews of which twelve are male and nine are female. Not all of them were planted at the same time but the oldest (the majority) are thought to be around 350 years old. There is a single male yew at the head of the avenue. A grove of five yews stands nearby as does some yew hedging, and both are believed to be early nineteenth century plantings.
