Luss village stands on the shores of Loch Lomond and is within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. At the lakeshore stands what looks like a single yew from a distance but is in fact a close growing pair. This is a very exposed spot and canopy damage caused by storms is obvious as the canopy is thin and stunted. However, the yews are in fine health and exhibit plenty of adventitious growth around the lower sections of the trunks which makes a girth measurement too difficult to accurately obtain. Due to mitigating growth conditions it is thought that these yews may be several centuries old.
Other yews exist at Luss in private gardens which appear to be a few centuries old and there are younger ones at the vicarage.
