Dollar Park contains Arnotdale House and was purchased by Robert Dollar, one of the world’s richest men at the time, over a century ago, bequeathed to the hard-working people of Falkirk and opened as a park in 1822. Before then it was noted as a place containing beautiful trees, especially the golden variety of the Irish yew. A standout tree in the park today stands near Arnotdale House and is a yew allowed to layer for around 200 years. If left alone, we can see how much a yew spreads in that time and is the way a yew naturally would grow in open space.
